Adopts E-Verify Program to Check Employee Eligibility
| Los
Angeles County, the largest county in the country, has adopted the free,
federal online E-Verify program to check the eligibility of employees to
work in the United States. Los Angeles County is protecting its 10 million citizens from illegal alien workers and the rights of 96,000 county employees against illegal alien applicants. The nonpartisan county board of supervisors has three Democrats, Gloria Molina, Yvonne Burke, and Zev Yaroslavsky, and two Republicans, Michael Antonovich and Don Knabe. The county Department of Human Resources has successfully been using the E-Verify program since 1998 (213-738-2115). |
