1986 Alaska House Joint Resolution 53
and Governor Bill Sheffield's Letter


        House Joint Resolution 53 passed unanimously in both the House and Senate and was
signed by Governor Bill Sheffield in April 1986.  As an indication of the popularity of the
resolution, its sponsor Roger Jenkins (R-Anchorage) was a freshman legislator in the
minority party.
